SRINAGAR: Four persons, including a policeman, were killed in a terrorist attack in Anantnag district of Kashmir, incident happened on Saturday evening. One Lashkar terrorist was also killed in the befitting firing by the police.
Police have got a granade from the terrorist who was killed in the firing. Through sources, he has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Aishwar. Police also said that he was involved in the Udhampur attack that happened in 2015 and that the National Investigation Agency had pronounced a reward of Rs. 2 lakh on Fayaz.
Three persons were also injured badly when terrorists started firing at a police party which was going on the Mir Bazaar area of the district. The police party was operating traffic in that area after an accident on road.
The terrorists were in a car when they attacked. Police say another terrorist got injured when the retaliatory firing was on.
“Apparently 3 terrorists were involved in the attack on Kashmir. 1 terrorist was killed in the retaliatory firing by police. One more is believed to be injured during that. One policeman and two civilians lost their life in the terrorist attack,” said SP Vaid, DG of Police Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said a team of three militants first tried to take weapons from police but when they challenged them and made a hold on one militant, a shootout broke out.
Mr Vaid also said the police managed to take a gun from one of the terrorists.
“While one terrorist has escaped, we are following the blood trail of another terrorist who was injured in the police action,” the DGP said.
